Traveller security
by Brian Gervais, HRG Business Manager
Our client is a national broadcaster with reporters in every part of the world covering news and current affairs via radio, television and Internet.
Their journalists, travelling to high risk destinations, undergo special training before they can travel such as proof of life in case of a hostage situation, war zone training and increased insurance coverage.
It is vital for the client’s security department to access a clear picture of who is travelling to a high risk country at all times. There is no room for error and therefore the client needed an automated solution to ensure all travel to an identified high risk destinations would be flagged to the security department prior to departure.
HRG customised its Trip Pass application to recognise the list of high risk destinations as defined by our client. Any booking to a country on the list generates an email with the traveller’s itinerary to the client security department.
In addition, a customised email is generated to both traveller and travel arranger advising them that they have planned travel to a high risk country and listing the necessary steps the traveller must take prior to departure.
The process means we no longer have to track or advise of bookings to high risk destinations and the risk of a trip falling through the cracks during weekends or after-hours has been removed.
We have put the Trip Pass solution in place at a minimal cost to the client and with no impact to travellers travel arrangers. The implementation experience has been seamless for all parties.
A Security Department spokesperson from our client said: "We very much appreciate this service. It has made our lives much easier and helps immensely with the planning we need to do."
