Employee Development
At HRG UK, we recognise that the continued success and development of the company relies on the quality, flexibility and ability of all employees. We are therefore fully committed to providing learning and development for all employees to enhance personal performance and contribution to the company.
We appreciate that within the different divisions across the Company, there is a diverse range of expertise, skills and knowledge and this impacts on the types of development that may be required. Many of the roles have their own specific formal qualifications and Continual Professional Development (CPD) requirements. Therefore, in order to ensure that we support each function appropriately, programmes are tailored to each division, department, team or individual's needs.
Rather than provide a fixed schedule of programmes across the business, we ensure that any learning and development activity is designed specifically for and is relevant to the business area concerned. This is achieved by having a key contact in place who acts as a business partner to that area of the business, ensuring that our programmes add value to the organisation by consulting with senior management on a regular basis to identify the current needs and priorities.
Here are some comments from employees who have benefited from the training & development available and have forged their careers within HRG:
Karen Savage, General Manager
"My career with HRG began back in June 1989, when I was employed to work as a rail consultant in Liverpool. I had relocated to the North West, after ten years of working with British Rail and I soon began to put HRG on the ‘right track’ in regards to rail processing and accountancy.
"I was made aware from the beginning that HRG would provide training and support to me if I wanted to progress outside of my rather ‘niche’ role. HRG staff always have a great ‘team spirit’ and support was given to me by my colleagues in the various branches I have worked in, together with excellent internal and external training.
"I realised that if I wanted to progress within the company then I also had to play a part in my career development and if that meant commuting and moving to other HRG locations, to gain more experience on different accounts, then this would show my commitment to HRG, too.
"This is exactly what I have done over the years, rising up the ranks and moving around the country; Manchester, Cheltenham, Coventry, Solihull and Derby, working both within Client Services and Business Management. Today I am home based when not visiting HRG offices both within the UK and Europe, or attending client meetings."
Victoria Jackson, European Communications Manager
"I joined as a Travel Consultant and soon found that HRG was a company that wanted me to progress just as much as I did. Working with colleagues and senior staff helped me gain knowledge and insight. I attended in house training courses including the Management Programme and soon found myself promoted to Team Leader, Operations Manager, Client Manager and then to my current role as European Communications Manager for one of our most prestigious accounts. It doesn’t stop there either, I’m constantly learning and as long as I want it, will be pushed to advance further."
